Concours d'Elegance and Concorso Italiano:
Concorso Italiano 2002
Concorso Italiano 2000
Concorso Italiano 1999
Concorso Italiano & Monterey Historics 1998
I traditionally attend the annual Concours d'Elegance at Pebble Beach (Carmel), California. There are also the (usually more exciting) Concorso Italiano at Quail Lodge, the Monterey Historic Car Races at Laguna Seca, and the Monterey Sports Car Auction at the Doubletree Hotel.

We went on a long trip, the car and I. I drove cross-country and back from May 4 through July 3, 1999. It was a photographic, SCUBA, fun, family and car related trip. I maintained a web site with all the goings-on as they happened at http://www.thereandback.com.
See the factory site for Porsche AG (US mirror) at http://www.us.porsche.com/english/default.htm. No 928 content to speak of.
Clubs, Lists & Organizations:
Performance & Service:
- Rennlist.org, formerly PorscheList.org, provides mail list service for all models of Porsche, plus classified ads, at http://www.rennlist.org/.
- The Porsche Club of America (PCA) is the owners' club. See http://www.pca.org/.
- The 928 Owners Club is dedicated to all 928 owners and afficianados, at http://www.928oc.com/.
- A. Bauer Porsche in Oakland, California, at http://www.abauer.com. They do all forms of maintenance and performance work. Serious racers, too. They produce a Dash Glove for the 944 that looks good if you need one. I had them install MSDS headers and total exhaust replacement. Though there were numerous leaks, the system is now solid and has added a significant amount of power. Even better, the throttle response is worlds better. Best of all, it sounds like a screaming black banshee from hell! I like it!
- The Tech Group in Belmont, California, at http://www.devek.net and their sister company, Devek International, specialize in 928 performance. Knowledgeable, friendly folks provide great service. Their Koni/Hypercoil coilovers and Devek swaybar have transformed the car into something that truly handles well. I've driven on them for over 15,000 miles now and must say the system is great. I don't recommend setting the rears much past 1/2 firm for street use. These folks are always very generous with their advice, which has proved invaluable on many occasions.
- 928 Specialists in Kennesaw, Georgia, at http://www.928gt.com. Also really nice on the phone and very helpful on the PorscheList. Also no business with them yet, though I hope to visit in a few months.
- 928 International in Anaheim, California, at http://www.928intl.com. Nice on the phone and helpful on the P-List. They are providing the GTS motor for my car.
Parts, Accessories, Equipment Manufacturers & Distributors:
Fellow Enthusiasts:
- Devek International in Belmont, California, at http://www.devek.net and their sister company, The Tech Group, specialize in 928 performance work. Knowledgeable, friendly folks provide great service. They can easily locate rare parts, arrange for duplicate keys, etc. Their prices are excellent. They have a sizeable catalog of performance parts, including exhaust systems, chipsets, suspension, wheels and tires. See also my note above under Performance, & Service.
No business with them yet.
- Automotion in Sunnyvale, California, at http://www.automotion.com/. Big Porsche catalog. Some 928 wares; mostly 911 stuff. Prices middle-of-the-road. Bauer and Devek usually do better.
- AutoThority, in Fairfax, Virginia, at http://www.autothority.com/. They make performance chipsets for a variety of cars, including the 928. I've traded-up to the ones tuned for after-market headers. I don't think they improved the performance much, though they did raise the rev limiter to 6,800. Noah there sure is helpful and generous with his advice and time.
- Borla Performance Industries in Oxnard, California, at http://www.borla.com/. They make the most reputable performance mufflers like the XR-1, which I just had installed. They did, however, completely screw-up the shipping, leaving me sans 928 for four extra days.I'd wait until you have the item in hand before starting any work. The muffler sure sounds good.
- MSDS Inc. of Rosemead, California, at http://www.msdsinc.com/, make the only 16V and 32V exhaust headers for the 928 that I know of. I've driven / ridden in a number of cars with these installed and never failed to notice an increase in power and a more aggressive engine note. Totally transformed my car (along with other exhaust mods). Both A. Bauer and Devek recommended and installed them. Devek now has their version 2 headers, which are NOT made by MSDS.
- PIAA of Beaverton, Oregon, at http://www.piaa.com/, makes some very bright blue-white halogen bulbs called, aptly, Platinum Series Super White bulbs. They are noticeably brighter than standard replacement bulbs.
- Random Technology of Loganville, Georgia, at http://www.randomtechnology.com/ produces a variety of performance products, including the high-flow catalytic converters recommended and installed by Devek. The jury's still out, but I'd guess it'll last about three years. At about $300, that's not a bad value. The metal cover partially detached on my trip; that was a cheap and easy fix, though.
- The Tire Rack, at http://www.tirerack.com/, has great pricing on tires and excellent service so far. Salespeople are often surprisingly knowledgeable. I end up using them every time, though they recently shipped the wrong size tires to me, delaying me by a few days.
- Valentine Research, at http://www.valentineone.com/, makes a superb radar detector, called the Valentine One. Build quality is great. I've been using it for over a year now and it's saved my butt many times; it's paid for itself a few times over.
