Across the USA - May through July 1999

There and Back is the name my cross-country trip took. What I initially intended to be a quiet, introspective trip to give me time to write and improve my photography became a sponsored, involved, social whirlwind spanning at least 23 states, three countries, nine weeks and 12,000 miles. I maintained a Web site during the trip, posting photos, QTVR panoramas and journal entries every few days. My friend Raffi joined me for the first leg of the trip, from Los Angeles to Miami. The site is still up for those who are interested. Below are just a handfull of the hundreds of photographs I took.

Grand Canyon A shot of the Grand Canyon taken from a helicopter.
Not Guano One of many stunning rock formations in the Carlsbad Caverns of New Mexico.
Niagara Falls One the return part of the trip, I stopped at the Canadian side of the Niagara Falls. Through a break in the rain, I got a few shots of the falls and a perfect rainbow.
Bad Bad Badlands Later, on my way to Wyoming, I spent a little time in the Badlands of South Dakota, seen here.
Bad Bad Car I thought this would make a decent Porsche ad.
Yellowstone Lake I also enjoyed a few days in Yellowstone National Park. This is Yellowstone Lake, with trees burned by a wildfire some months prior to my visit.
